An album loosely exploring the relationship between technology, nature, nihilism, cynicism and spirituality. A personal journey represented through External concepts.
The start and end points are documented with 2 solo Kora meditations. They’re the most pure and primal windows inside on the album. Whilst performing I was tuning into sensations in the body rather than playing “musically”. ‘Kora Latitudes’ is peaceful and smooth. ‘Kora Longitudes’ more fractured, manic and deep.
The initial peace is pummelled by industrial electronics in the following tracks. After the dark noise of ‘Falling Purple Plastic Sun’, ’Escavadora’ sees a sleepy forest infiltrated and subverted. ‘Subversion Mechanism’ (which subverts the cheesy) runs riot with decadent, ironic cynicism. ‘New Year Jam Session’ blows the landscape open with android overdrive. The album degenerates further into harsh, masochistic, digital noise on ‘9:11/Infected Mushroom’.
The shaman then leaves the city to recharge and connect with the universe in ‘Locus Sacerdotis’, before returning, ready to brave harsh Essex streets on ‘Crispy Ambulance’. After the cleansing blackout of ‘Ridin’ the Rails - Junciton 1’, ‘Kora Longitudes’ is the result of the influence from the previous tracks.
Some references on the album: Captain Beefheart, Sun Ra, Tangerine Dream, Merzbow, Kraftwerk, Agitation Phi and industrialBuddha.
